This monograph is a concise update of the current knowledge about the handling of patients with neurogenic oropharyngeal dysphagia (NOD) and problems that occur following neurological diseases, especially stroke. The various contributions provide information about the specific technical examinations like swallowing endoscopy and videofluoroscopy and addresses to the misconception that oral and pharyngeal dysfunction cannot be treated properly. It presents examples for a dysphagia management concept (DMC) which is intended to standardize the examination of patients with oropharyngeal dysphagia and to contribute to the avoidance of complications like malnutrition and aspiration pneumonia.
