This book deals with the clinical features, diagnosis and above all - an aspect that is important for daily practice - the treatment of autoimmune liver diseases that may present in a "hepatitis-like" manner, as may be the case for autoimmune hepatitis, or where cholestatic liver disease is the predominant feature, typified by primary biliary cirrhosis, autoimmune cholangitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis. Alongside these are the so-called overlap syndromes, i.e. two different diseases that are observed in the same patient. The aim of this book is to give the practising physician information about how to approach the diagnosis, and how a complete diagnosis can often even be already made, on the basis of which treatment measures, and even liver transplantation, can then be implemented.
