The papers included in this e-book are representative of the diverse nature of the papers that were submitted and reviewed. The ten papers included come from a variety of theoretical perspectives, such as, effectuation logic, networks, the dynamic capabilities perspective, resource based view, the knowledge-based view, absorptive capacity and knowledge assimilation, the business model and value creation, location and economic growth theories. Since the launch of the call for papers, we sadly note the untimely death of Professor Jim Bell. His work had great influence on the development of IE as a field of study, and this work will continue to influence present and future scholars. Indeed, in this e-book 11 of Professor Bell's articles (covering the time period 1995-2009) are frequently cited, often with co-authors from the UK, Ireland, Canada, Austria, Germany and Finland. As a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development this e-book has been dedicated to him. Professor Stephen Young commences the e-book with a Foreword highlighting Professor Bell's contribution to IE.
