This romantic ballad is part of the novel "The Quest for Cymeru - The Chrononaut Files". In the novel, the ballad is found on a stone stele on planet Atlantis. The ballad is in the Marillian language, an extraterrestrial language known to humans in the novel's fictitious fifth millenium universe. On the other side of the stele, there is a translation of the ballad into the Cymerian language, a language that is yet to be deciphered by humans. Thus, the Marillian ballad helps the main character in the novel, Lalis, decipher the Cymerian language.
