When discussing relationships, it is natural to focus on other people. After all, your interactions with others define your relationships.
However, this is a mistaken approach. Focusing on others first will effectively paralyze you and leave you far less capable of developing those crucial relationships.
Why? Because all relationships are two-sided. And, while your friends, partners, and colleagues will come and go, the one constant in all of your relationships will be you.
You won't be able to have a fulfilling relationship if you don't have a good grasp on yourself and don't first improve yourself.
Relationships are something that we never really learn much about. There isn't a single lesson in school that focuses on relationships.
Wouldn't it make more sense for us to concentrate on developing the skills that give our lives meaning? And with happy memories to last us for the rest of our lives?
Perhaps we don't like talking about improving relationships because we don't want to admit that we could use some help.
