Unconditional love is so hard to achieve. Some people are hard to love, especially people who are damaged or downright evil. But God extols us to genuinely care for everyone. That doesn't mean we have to allow ourselves to be abused repeatedly. We don't have to like the unlikeable. But we have to care for them in a humanitarian way. We must realize that we are human beings in search of love and attention.
In 1 John 3:14-15, Jesus warns us that hating someone makes us murderers in our hearts. God, therefore, wants us to love everyone, even those who are hard to love. Doing this can be exceedingly hard. I know in my own life how hard this has been. In fact, I believe loving in this way is the foundation of our faith. This is because we can grow in our faith more and stretch our hearts. Loving the lovable is easy, but loving the unlovable is a true testament to our faith.
Yes, it sure is hard to love the unlovable! Loving someone who doesn't reciprocate your love can cause a lot of heartache, frustration, and stress. We may feel parched inside or even empty. We may even feel that you can't continue on because it seems pointless. This can be hard to endure. But if we change our focus from how bad and stressed we feel to the fact that we are doing God's work, that should help.
In his ministry, God too lived among critical people who doubted him. Yet he endured, prevailed, and even thrived. Why? Because God was on his side, and he knew God favored him above these evil manipulators. We too can rise above the unlovable by shifting our focus from earthly things to heavenly ones. We will have favor with God if we love the unlovable. So, we should strive to do that as much as possible.
In this eBook, I will show you how to shift your focus from yourself to others. You can do this by selflessly loving others unconditionally, even, and perhaps, especially when you feel overwhelmed, awkward, and frustrated. Praying can also help you a lot and knowing that you are earning favor with God. God loves wholesome, kind people. And he will help you feel stronger and more composed to face whatever you are going through. You can do everything with God, who strengthens you.
