My sister's hand from behind held onto mine like a vice, prodding me forward. Every once in a while I'd look back, seeing the fear in her glossy eyes, the tears running down her cheeks illuminated only by the light of the moon.
Finally, we came upon a road. The first car we saw, I ran in front of it waving my arms like a mad woman to get their attention. For a moment, I thought the car would hit me.
Thankfully, it stopped.
Rebecca watched from the edge of the tar-covered road, keeping attention to the woods around us to make sure they wouldn't catch up to us. I nodded to my sister, waving her over.
Finally, we were safe.
