The year is 1998. The place is Novosibirsk in the newly formed state of Russia. A dead woman's body is discovered in an area known as the "drunken road"- a red light district. A trail of other bodies is soon to follow, all mutilated in the same fashion. Sounds like a script from a horror movie, doesn't it?
This would be the first in a series of murders from late 1990s to mid-2000s, nineteen total. All prostitutes. The first woman's body was found dumped in a dumpster. The body was badly mutilated and had satanic symbols carved into it.
After the second murder occurred in the area, it became clear to both the police that a serial killer was in their midst. Unfortunately, there would be seventeen more victims before the killings stopped. The police would be unable to track down the killer in part because he was one of their own. His name was Yevgeny Chuplinsky.
