Gabrielle had never seen anything so beautiful in her life. She stood with the breeze ruffling her auburn locks and birds chirping overhead. She faced a small but gorgeous park filled with flourishing green grass and tall trees she couldn't even name. It was like a dream - this whole experience was. After all, wasn't this the reason she had left her dirty, cramped little home in New York? Wasn't this the reason she had come all the way to Oklahoma and left everything she knew behind?
"Gabrielle Nilson?"
She startled, wide eyes snapping to the source of the rough voice - to be met with a tall, dark haired man in a fine suit. A smile graced her young features as recognition sparked. "Adam? Adam Bookman?"
When he smiled it was dazzling and his entire face lit up. "I am."
She was lost for words - and that rarely happened to Gabrielle. Even so, just looking at him sparked warmth in her chest and unimaginable relief, knowing she was safe at last. He was her link to a better life, and the man she was to marry. Perhaps being a mail order bride wasn't so terrible after all.
