This book includes brief biographies of the following New England composers: William Selby, Supply Belcher, William Billings, Daniel Read, Justin Morgan, Andrew Law, Oliver Holden, Timothy Swan, Jacob Kimball Jr, Jeremiah Ingalls, Lewis Edson, and Rev. John Tufts.
Also treated are composers who lived or worked in the Middle Atlantic states: James Hewitt, Jean Gehot, Raynor Taylor, John Christopher Moller, Alexander Robert Reinagle, Benjamin Carr, Philip Phile, and Francis Hopkinson.
The third chapter treats composers who spent at least a little time in the southern states of the union: Peter Albrecht van Hagen, Sr, Charles Theodore Pachelbel, Peter Pelham, Johann Christian Gottlieb Graupner, and Philip Trajetta.
