There's a horrible sound. She looks at the blood spattered across the wall. The sound was the whomping, bone-to-bone clatter like a xylophone from hell. Her jawbone was struck fast and without warning by her friend, and the bottom of her face has already started to swell. Finally, she thinks, "I see my true nature": feeble and scared, crushed under the frightening possibility that no one cares who she is, like she's caught under the ocean's pressure that's impossible to surpass.
