For better or worse, when seeking to understand God, many of us train our attention on sacred places, spiritual texts, and the comforting words of ministers, priests, and rabbis. Yet, for all but a very few, God remains elusively hidden and beyond understanding. Wouldn't it be nice if one of the world's great religious scholars and philosophers—as a personal exercise—attempted to define, chart a map to, and explain God?
