After being banished for twelve years to the snowy tundra of Tochfuyu without explanation, Rose finally decides enough is enough. Accompanied by her lifelong friend, Amaya, she leaves the wasteland to discover what the rest of the land of Aessatia has to offer.

Along the way, they meet a prophet named Soren who reveals that the two girls are actually demigods, and they learn about a prophecy that declares that they will save the weakening gods of Aessatia. With so much unknown, the three set off for Lucus-the very kingdom from which they were banished-to find the Ice Sanctum, a library containing all the world's knowledge. But when they arrive, they uncover a truth they weren't prepared for.
