In this sequel to Lighthouse in the Mist, an old mystery is discovered in New Petrograd's past.

Gaspar, Tony and Daria's son, has moved home to take over Tony's renovation business. He and some local friends take on a project that will benefit everyone in their village. His old roommates from Calgary, Kevin and Greg, have come to help out. But when a horrifying discovery throws a shadow on New Petrograd's past, the village is sent into upheaval. Everyone must decide just how far they will go to solve it.

As an officer on the Vancouver police force, June and Marvin's daughter Shelley is the logical person to come to their aid. She works as a liaison between the locals, Constable Freedmont of the Prince Rupert RCMP, and the district coroner's office. These authorities work for some months to untangle this very cold case. But as Shelley becomes more ingrained in village life, several questions arise... will she leave? and is she sincerely working on the case, or has she become distracted by romance?
