Hurricane America is based on the true events of Hurricane Katrina 2005 told by Marrio C. Mathews and Dolores Albert-Mathews. This story takes place in New Orleans, Louisiana chronicling the journey of the Mathews Family, escaping the disaster zone of Hurricane Katrina and their fated reunification. Readers will learn of the before, during, and after conditions of the average family that are Black American Descendents of Slavery. This book brings to light the vulnerabilities of this long-neglected community and provides possible solutions to assist families that are Black American Descendents of Slavery in the face of natural disaster and/or man-made disasters.
