When the Student is Ready, a horror story by Bruce Allsman

When an angel of death incarnate comes to town to meet a fourteen-year-old boy in a bus station, he tells the boy, "You will never be caught. You will be truly free to do whatever you desire. I will show you the way. I will guide you and protect you. You have no soul. You were born without a soul." The boy, however, desires to just run away, to be free from any form of oppression, especially physical abuse. Forced by circumstances beyond his understanding or control, the boy tries to evade his future mentor and his initiation into a world of evil.
