A Series of Books for the Queen of the Sea

Another day dawned, the arrangement of the lean-to structures with the east edge touching the ground being now appreciated by many of the castaways who were still asleep as much as two hours later. Unlike the previous morning, when people seemed to drift in and out all morning long, when activity began on this day, it was more general, everyone seeming to be awakening at about the same time.

One of the first up was Marcella, taking her duties as cook seriously, brewing coffee and preparing a breakfast centered on eggs and vegetables with toast. What Marcella called an omelet was something wondrous compared to the previous experience of her compatriots.
