War since the outbreak of Co-vid 19 has proved a very different beast to define indeed to what it was previously In our last book together, Europa III Peace Sells, Nick Armbrister and I looked at war as Peace Sells or in the words of G K Chesterton 'The True Soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him' Fast forward two years and the world is a very different beast in the grip of Co-vid 19 where the very way is fought is very different with threats coming out at a daily rate as fear is at an all true premium as People are effectively being held prisoner from their own families and friends and although it hasn't happened yet, there is a real fear for the first time in a long time that one wrong move and the world could literally be war in a way none of us since before. I won't reveal what city or the time period my body of work for Europa 4 is set in, but fear is the main character here whether people are cheating on their loved ones whether before or after a intense bombing campaign by another side turns people inside out just like the effect of Co-vid 19 has done. In my section, people's stories are told in snapshot, often in just a few lines to impact what has either happened or about to happen. Nick's work is more varied but only more in the specific topics he is talking about from his One Hundred Years which talks in about the First World War in a level of detail I have rarely sent told about that war and then (WW2) 63 which tells 63 stories of ordinary people's lives in the Second World War. Nick adds his poems represent his path as a writer, as a person and as a historian. Writing these pieces deeply touched Nick. He will keep writing new work and try to make things better. Only by working together can we change things. Something we all can learn from during these quite frankly frightening times. Say NO to armed aggression and war.
