The Woolly Mammoth weighed about 6 tons. Some species of mammoths may have been bigger or smaller. Contrary to common belief, the Woolly Mammoth was hardly mammoth in size. The ears of a Woolly Mammoth were shorter than a modern elephant's ears. Scientists can tell a Woolly Mammoths age from the rings of its tusk.
