Great Britain is reeling, absorbing one raid after another by Nazi Germany's armada of bombers. It seems only a matter of time before the English Prime Minister must surrender. But Adolf Hitler has made a mistake by poking the sleeping bear that is Russia and declaring war on the neutral United States.

Seen through the eyes of Angela Sherman, private stenographer to Winston Churchill , the negotiations that brings the U.S. and Russia into the war on England's side are mesmerizing to the young Englishwoman and her fellow lady stenographers as they try to keep their senses while aboard a British warship with some 1500 young men. Naturally, romance is in the air, but this is wartime, a time of action and a time of loss. Can true love be found amidst the turmoil of war and will the emotions discovered by the young women survive the strife of war and politics?
