Fremdy is a curious boy who plays on the edge of upside-down land. He is never afraid of new adventure and promises himself he will find something grand. One particular day, Fremdy follows the sound of laughter.
He ties a rope around his waist so he can find his way back. Soon, though, his journey becomes much longer and more dangerous than he expected. Still clinging to his rope, Fremdy gets help from a new friend, Friendy—but Fremdy can't stay in this different world forever. Together, they invent a gadget to help Fremdy continue his exciting ride farther into the future.
An interactive, magical, and funny tale about making friends in a new world, Fremdy and Friendy is full of hope and fun. With beautiful illustrations, this is an abstract and positive story about immigration.
The names of the main characters refer to the words: Fremd in German (strange/foreign) and Friend in English (friendly/familiar).
Two apparently opposing ideas that, when put together, bring the unfamiliar closer to the heart.
