Though the definition of social work seems to be a contested terrain, the International Association of Schools of Social Work and the International Federation of Social Workers convey, its basic meaning quite concisely. They contend that, The social work profession promotes social change, problem- solving in human relationships and the empowerment and liberation of people to enhance well-being. Utilising theories of human behaviour and social systems, social work intervenes at the points where people interact with their environment. Principles of human rights and social justice are fundamental to social work. The present book would be useful to impart field work training in the specialized fields work training in the specialized fields which would assist the schools of social work to prepare the perfect trained manpower to serve the NGOs, Gos and Cos, organizations, institutions, offices and the society at large.
