This book is a short biography of archaeologist and historian, Gabriel Millet. He dedicated his life to researching and documenting all sorts of Byzantian and Serbian art. He took thousands of photos, and spent his lifetime visiting monuments, churches, and monasteries. He was considered the master in his field of iconography, as he studied the ancient art to learn as much as he could about them. He was a master of Hellenistic and Slavic languages, and knew a great deal of the middle ages.
He had travelled to various monuments in Europe, and it was a field study of his time in Serbia, Old Serbia, and Macedonia. Millet had divided the Serbian medieval architecture into three main stylistic groups. They were: Raška School, Serbian-Byzantine school, and Moravska school. Millet published many works, and volumes about everything he had learned. He was a lecturer, then later a professor. His work has long been praised by scholars, and there are museums and universities that exhibit his work to this day.
