Anxiety and depression are unfortunately widespread diseases today. Depression, in the last century, has even earned the sad title of "disease of the century" and, although its spread is proven, there are still cases in which there is a tendency to underestimate it and not to realize its real gravity, as well as it's being a disease in all respects, which needs to be treated as such.
We began by defining anxiety and depression as pathologies because that is exactly what they are. Although often present together and show common symptoms, depression is a mood disorder, while anxiety is an innate component in human psychology: it serves to make us perceive the presence of danger and puts certain mechanisms in place in our body to allow us to remain unharmed. When some of the anxiety-induced attitudes become excessive and out of control, a series of other processes are triggered that transform anxiety from a form of defense to a pathology.
Remember that discovering realization through CBT is a long-distance race, not a dash, which implies that stable-minded individuals will ultimately win.
