Once again, it is time to collect the last two years' worth of posts on my blogging website and publish as a coherent series of finger-to-the-keyboard articles. In this 2019 – 2020 collection, you will find old favourites such as film and book reviews; details of the books I published during the 2-year period (five new and two earlier ebooks updated and republished as paperbacks); several explorations of the power of words covering topics such as the hidden reincarnations in anagrams, the problems posed by using gender-free pronouns to represent transgender and non-binary characters in a story, and a guest post exploring neologisms formed by removing prefixes – for example, gruntle (from disgruntle) and chalant (from nonchalant); and, of course, my usual disrespectful comments on members of the British Royal family!
New topics include articles on global warming and climate change, Brexit, the Covid-19 pandemic and, as a special one-off, a series of poems highlighting the nomadic world-wide travels of my son, Mark, and his wife, Kirsty.
To round off the book, there are also a variety of miscellaneous articles covering topics as diverse as not-so-smart smart motorways, poo donors, apple and baked bean soup, why pixies don't wear hearing aids, happy-to-chat park benches, the art of tying shoelaces, and many other interesting off-beat and often humorous subjects.
