Alice is a go-getter. She was one of the best students at her high school, and now that she's in college, she is working her hardest to continue her drive to succeed by finishing school early. But when her boyfriend Takeo, who goes to another school, dumps her, Alice's world starts falling apart.

That's when she meets Thomas Powers, a renowned professor and researcher. He offers Alice an internship with his research group — and he also seems to really like her, in a more-than-friends way. At first, everything seems great — she can even tolerate her frisbee-obsessed, bro-ish new boss, James. But a chance encounter one night changes everything — and reveals just who Alice can really count on.
