Deanna Da Vinci is a world-famous antique dealer who for years, has owned her own shop on Royal Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans. A savvy woman with immense knowledge of business and antiques, Deanna has traveled the world extensively, acquiring collectibles to sell. Her enormous success in the field has allowed her to mingle with the upper echelons of international society. Deanna is acquainted with actors, politicians, diplomats, and even royalty. Despite her jet-setting, her favorite place in the world is New Orleans, and especially, the French Quarter. She loves everything about the place...the food, the jazz music, the art, and the overall vibrant vibe.

Deanna's life wasn't always so wonderful. Many years ago, her four-year-old daughter, Joanna, was kidnapped from their home. The police searched and investigated for many years, to no avail. The case, which is now classified as cold, has caused Deanna intense grief. One rainy night, that grief turns to hope, when a mysterious messenger knocks on her front door and hands Deanna a letter. The letter lists a simple demand. Deanna must turn over the million-dollar diamond she recently acquired in exchange for information on the current whereabouts of her daughter, who was kidnapped so many years prior.
