Sawyer and Kohaku settled into the castle months ago, but Kohaku still isn't used to castle life. Sawyer promises him they'll visit the forest, where Kohaku feels comfortable, more often. However, the queen assigns them a mission to investigate a strange drug-like substance coming in from neighboring Qeoca.
On their way, Sawyer learns the truth about his old lieutenant who he once had a strong connection with. The man is broken hearted, but willing to help in this mission for now.
With an army of men, Sawyer and Kohaku travel to Qeoca and find much more than anyone expected. Will a scorned ex or a concoction that turns people into zombies break their bond? Or is there a danger yet to be discovered?
