The Dog With The Wind In Her Hair was inspired by Ellie - a beautiful, bossy, bouncy and extremely clever Lurcher who takes over most of the bed, knows her rights and talks better English than any other dog around. However, things were not always like that: Ellie's original human family split up when she was little and she was fostered, before a Google Search and a rescue dog charity, Lurcher Link, secured her a new home with us. Ellie, has always been decisive.

She was a little scrap of a Bedlington-cross Lurcher before she came to live with us in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds, where she has graced us with fun, laughter, accidents and endless entertainment. She is also a sea dog as she adores the beaches on the Gower Peninsula where she takes her holidays - as you can see from the book's cover. Despite the fact that Ellie rules the household, and takes over three-quarters of the bed, she is irritatingly, massively beautiful - without the need for make-up! She demands her rights and has a better command of syntax than any dog I know. That Google search changed our lives forever.

Ellie has inspired me to, not only, write of her, but of her snow-boarding predecessor, Robbie, as well as other dogs, and animals. The Dog With The Wind In Her Hair tells the stories of the many dogs and other animals I have encountered through my life. There are tales of bats, cats, rats, mice, seagulls, chickens, swallows, blackbirds and horses, amongst many others.

However, this is primarily a book about dogs, their characters, their decision-making and hair-raising escapades. The Dog With The Wind In Her Hair is a book for all dog lovers and animal lovers. You will be enchanted with the in-depth insights into what makes our dogs, especially Lurchers, and other animals, special.
