This is the latest English version of "New Mathematics for Elementary School 3A" which has been most widely used in Japanese elementary schools (Publisher: Tokyo Shoseki Co., Ltd.). This textbook has following three features. 1. Thinking becomes more and more interesting for children. The capacity for thinking, judgement and expression will be improved. 2. Children can make good use of what they learned. They can acquire working knowledge and skills firmly. 3. Children would be motivated to study further. The power to head for learning would be developed continuously. This textbook is designed so that children could shape their future through fruitful learnings. Children would look at the textbook with desires such as "I want to know (knowledge)" and "I want to be able to do it (skill)". Not only so, but children are also expected to read from the textbook "How to think (capacity for thinking and judgement)" and "How to express their idea (capacity for expression)". Because the future of children is said to be an unpredictable society. To live your own life in that kind of society, it is necessary to have the attitude to think by yourself and to express, convey and improve your idea. In short, it is required to become "intellectually independent". This textbook has been edited so that children could become "intellectually independent" through the learning of mathematics.
