Based on the true memoirs of a former captain of the Musketeers, Dumas' THE THREE MUSKETEERS is a wild story of brotherhood and adventure, where swashbuckling comes first and questions come later.

D'Artagnan, an energetic and earnest young man of low noble birth, sets off with a letter from his father intending to join the king's elite personal guard, The Musketeers. Things don't proceed quite as planned, however: the letter is stolen, and D'Artagnan meets and offends each of Athos (a courageous and distinguished man of noble bearing), Porthos (unfathomably strong, brash, and devilishly handsome), and Aramis (an excellent fighter and a romantic with the soul of a poet) and is challenged to a duel with each of them.

When Cardinal Richelieu's forces arrive to break up the unlawful duels, D'Artagnan fights alongside the musketeers and wins their friendship. So begins a journey of secret messages, duels, cloak-and-dagger plots and wild plots as the four become deeply embroiled in the largest political intrigue of all: the love affair between Queen Anne of Spain and the Duke of Buckingham.

Dumas' epic story of chivalry, espionage and flashing swords is truly one of the greatest historical novels of all time and a perfect adventure for all ages.
