When young Anne Elliot is nineteen years old, she falls in love with the charming, handsome Frederick Wentworth and is engaged to be married—until her family decides to intervene. Wentworth is employed, but had no fortune or family connections to satisfy the Victorian social requirements of a good match for a daughter of the wealthy Elliots.
