One day at sunset, in a city far, far away, sat granny Konko, telling her grandchildren - Karabo, Khutso and Bindi, about a story which in Chinese art, had long been written and spoken about. This, was the story of the Four Junzi - the orchid, the chrysanthemum, the plum blossom, and the bamboo. These four plants represent the seasons of life in all living beings - Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. She also told them about the life-cycle of a glass butterfly called Eustacia, which had one day perched itself atop a petal on a spirited, ancient, bamboo tree. Eustacia breathed new life into the bamboo tree and, once she had done so, traveled for thousands of kilometers across the seas, to find the exact plant where its own life had begun. This short story is about rebirth and renewal. It is a story about hope and the fact that whatever challenges one may face, things, inevitably, change for the better and that sometimes, all one needs to do is to go back to the place where life began!
