David Leyonhjelm was elected to the Australian Senate in 2013 and re-elected in 2016. He resigned in 2019.

As the first politician elected to an Australian parliament representing a genuinely libertarian party, he carried a major responsibility. While the libertarian concept is relatively well known in the United States, and classical liberalism is somewhat understood in Britain and Europe generally, neither is part of the usual political dialogue in Australia.

This book comprises article and speeches he delivered as a senator. Publishing them is intended to achieve the same purpose as when they were first published or delivered - to expose people to the principles of liberty in the hope they will agree that less government and more personal responsibility will lead to a much happier and more prosperous society.
