Ferewym's life living with his mother is turned upside-down when he is kidnapped by a murderous gang and discovers that he is a descendant of a possessor of occult powers. Being saved by an undercover agency leads him to discover many disturbing secrets relating to the tragic death of his father and brother, and a dark notion that the agency's rivals have something more sinister to do with it than murder.

As he struggles to adapt, he begins to comprehend just how much has been hidden from him...and how much danger he is in because of it.
