FAMILY FAVOURITE • Ford Escort Mk1s had two distinct characters – on the one hand they were cheap and dependable family transport, but on the other they were highly desirable and sporty models. Bob Weir went to Lanarkshire to meet David Kane and YDO 984L, a car that combines both family memories and sporting heritage.
LITTLE URN • When Marcus Johnson bought a Beetle because it had been converted to LPG and promised to be economical to run, little did he realise the chain of events that it would set in motion.
THE COLLECTORS • When Anne and Richard Bryant got married in 1982, they had four cars between them which ranged from four to 36 years old. Over the years, this collection has grown to 11 vehicles, and at one time reached 13. That's because they tend to keep the vast majority of cars they acquire, resulting in some very long periods of ownership. This is the story behind each of them.
10 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT... TRIUMPH TR4, TR5 AND TR250 • The TR4 and TR5 were stepping stones along the evolutionary path that led from the sidescreen cars of the 1950s to the TR6 that took Triumph growling into the 1970s. There were some diversions down blind alleys along the way, though.
MG MIDGET PROJECT PART 2 A PLAN OF ACTION • Having driven our new Midget project home from Gloucestershire to Lincolnshire, we knew that it was running well. However, we also knew that it had quite a few underlying issues that would need sorting. Our next job was to try and draw up a provisional list of jobs to be done.
