"Enemy to those who make him an enemy, friend to those who have no friends."

Author Jack Boyle created the engaging ex-con Boston Blackie in 1914, but it was Richard Kollmar who brought him to life on radio in 1945. As a private detective, Blackie gets mixed up with plenty of murders, missing jewels and misunderstandings. But, his clients can capitalize on his underworld connections and street-wise ways. As a former criminal—and often a prime suspect in the cases he investigates—Blackie avoids the cops. He is an expert at evading the ever-present Inspector Faraday (played by Maurice Tarplin), though he enjoys needling the ineffectual investigator whenever he gets the chance. Jan Miner co-stars as Blackie's game and good-humored girlfriend, Mary Wesley, in these 16 digitally restored and remastered episodes.
