The Book of First Samuel chapters 16 – 31 records events that occurred after Samuel prophesied to Saul that his kingship over the descendants of Israel was about to end. Saul was the king of Israel for 40 years.
The Lord God told Samuel to anoint David to become the next king of Israel after Saul. However, before Saul's death, Saul spent much of his time in pursuit of David trying to kill him, but God helped David to escape in various ways.
The record of David and Goliath shows that David believed and did what God said to/for His people. David also helped Saul on many occasions to behave correctly by playing music while singing his psalms.
This book includes verses translated from the Greek old covenant writing, sometimes referred to as the Septuagint. Additionally, some comparisons to the Hebrew text are provided.
