I am writing these poems and shorts in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Barrett confirmation hearings, early voting, voter suppression, hurricanes, wildfires, and so many things swirling around while I am in the middle. In the middle of a situation that must change. Some people are on the right and some are on the far right, some are on the left and some are on the far left. Tomorrow the middle might shift but it will still be swirling around me.

I can only hope that the following shorts and poems will give you a slight reprieve from all that is happening, allow you a chance to catch your breath, a distraction without escaping, knowing that we are in place that will not stop. And in the end allow you to continue to do the work that must be done in a just and equitable way in a world that appears to have lost its way.
