First time in Turkey "Sexist Violence against Digital Workshop" was held. According to feminist-activist Nurcihan Temur, who spoke at the workshop, there are different types of digital violence such as cyber harassment and exploitation. The most severe consequences come after the "stalk" act, in which a person's digital profile is being watched obsessively and secretly. Şebnem Ahi, Head of Istanbul Bar Association Information Technology Law Commission, also explained the ways of legal combating with digital violence in the workshop. TBID Board Member Şevket Uyanık shared his suggestions for digital security.

"With the widespread access to the internet, mobile information and social media started to be used widely. As a result, 'digital violence', a new form of gender-based violence, emerged. There is currently no regulated law for those who are subjected to digital violence worldwide. In countries with partial legal regulations, digital violence is not subject to a sharp penalty. In fact, before the states make the necessary regulations, they expect large technology companies to become partners in the solution by demanding additional taxes. In terms of understanding; 'You have opened up space for the virtual world to be contaminated so much, and you will help to clean it first.'

Lucie Parker from England, who participated in the workshop organized by the Social Information and Communication Association (TBID) in Istanbul on 2-3 November 2019 within the scope of the European Union's "Think Civil" program, explains digital violence and the point at which it is being tackled.
