CROSSroads—Shechem Revisited

"Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths; ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls." (Jer. 6:16)

Shechem was a crossroads—a place of decision in the Old Testament which we need to revisit today.

The Jacob and Esau choices—to indulge the 'old man' (the sinful self), or to seek God's will in obedience—shape not only their destiny, but exemplify the life direction of each person in our present society. The symbolism, evidenced in the lives of Jacob and Esau, leads to a greater understanding of our purpose and direction, as we search the Bible for our place of decision.

In the cover photo, a Greek Orthodox Church sits atop the ancient Jacob's Well; a site which Jewish, Samaritan, Christian, and Muslim traditions all recognize. A worldly woman, caught up in a syncretistic culture, met Jesus at this well, in the midst of her mundane, strife-filled existence, and her life was changed.

CROSSroads—Revisiting Shechem was written to point readers to Jesus and His cross as our one place of CROSSroads for a life changing experience. It is for those who are lost in the multi-cultural melee of faiths so that they might understand the importance of studying the Bible, God's Word and the dangers of compromise with subversive theology. It is for fellow Christians and all of the Church to recognize where their thoughts may have led them into dangerous territory, desiring change at the expense of Truth. This message will lead many into a closer walk with Christ and those who have not recognized Jesus as the Messiah will find Him at the well.
