Varrage has snuck back to Dr. Norel's commandeered research facility to retrieve a small piece of technology. As he attempts to leave, he is attacked by several members of Colonel Bloch's undocumented 'LIFER' Cyborg program.
Dangler is an advanced example of these Lifer cyborgs, and when Varrage encounters him in a burning hallway, Dangler's new weapon system gets the better of Varrage.
Eventually, slowly, Varrage regains consciousness.
These are the scenes where he removes himself from captivity.
