A walk through time and fog along Hadrian's Wall. Built almost two thousand years ago on the orders of the Emperor Hadrian and marking the northern-most boundary of the Roman Empire, Hadrian's Wall is one of Britain's most enduring ancient monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 2003 a footpath following the line of the Wall was designated as a National Trail running 84 miles across England from the Solway Firth to the North Sea. Since then walkers have been coming to enjoy this long distance path in the wild landscape of northern England, and a few years later inadvertently choosing the foggiest week she could, Julia finally got round to walking the Wall. Factual and funny by turns, 'Walking with Hadrian' is an accurate account of the history, culture, scenery and wildlife of Hadrian's Wall Path. Battling fog, maps, social networking and the encroaching perils of middle age, the author has added another book to her collection of traveller's tales.
