The Houseboat is a book which portrays the mindset of a normal Kashmiri through his character Ahmed who is a boy from Srinagar and has a dream of a pious life , he is totally cynic towards the activities happening in Kashmir. The book is a vivid description of Ahmed's life and how he faced criticism and how he was annoyed by the negative mindset of the society towards Kashmir, it emphasizes on Ahmed's journey and how he falls in a trap and unknowingly gets involved in a bombarding , he realizes that it was a treachery by his friend and gets frustrated and commits suicide.
