The Epic of Gilgamesh is an ancient Mesopotamian epic poem, regarded as one of the first surviving great works of literature, and the second oldest of religious texts. It recounts the saga of Gilgamesh, king of Uruk and his contest of strength against Enkidu- created by the gods to end Gelgameshs' oppression of the people of Uruk. Gilgamesh and Uruk proceed to become friends, and the epic tale tells of their adventures together, and ultimately, Gilgameshs' quest for the secret of eternal life. The story of Gilgamesh has been featured in many works of popular fiction, a testament to it's fascinating relatability and captivating story. In this version, Stephen Langon recounts and presents transliteration for the complex, ancient story with many versions for us to enjoy.
