Taralyn is a telepath tormented by her inability to fit in as a normal person. Hunted by the Association, which imprisons telepaths for the good of the public, she flees Earth. She finds resistance cells on Io, in the rings of Saturn, even in the heart of the Association on Mars. The dissidents speak of war but for opposing reasons. Ultimately, she uncovers the true enemy, but not even her fellow telepaths will believe her.
