People's Friend short stories always had to be cheerful, uplifting and make the reader smile. They were fun to write. I wrote this one for my grandson when he was five.
Five year old John is cross. He has to fly all the way across the world to Japan, leaving his best pal and companion, his dog, Micky, behind. It's only for three months and his Mum and Dad are pleased to be going, but what about him? And he's feeling insulted because in Japan he has to go to kindergarten, at home he's nearly finished a year of school. What is he going to do?
