Agatha Christie's first mystery novel, introduces character Hercule Poirot, which is a heroic detective. The story begins when Emily Inglethorp, a millionaire at Court Styles, marries Alfred, who is twenty years younger than her. One night, Mrs. Inglethorp dies and suspicion falls on the family. Hercule Poirot is invited to investigate, quickly realizes that everything is not right. He finds out Mrs. Inglethorp was poisoned.
