Shelby Parker is one of nineteen polar bear shifters living in the small town, and the only one of marriageable age. That hasn't bothered her too much as she's been busy guiding hunters and the like and trying to contain the town's secret.

When Travis Stephenson, a biologist known for his work with bears, decides to come to town to study the inland polar bears, everyone is a little on edge. Why now? What is he trying to find out?

Shelby is prepared to keep the towns secret from the newcomer, but when she takes one look at him, her inner bear stands up and cheers.

Travis's reaction to Shelby is spontaneous and has his inner bear clamouring to come forth. Sparks fly between the two, and only when Shelby's life is in danger, does Travis finally release control of his inner bear and allow his secret to come out.
