Contessina Christina Paolozzi was an intriguing personality who attracted friends and suitors of many types. In 1963 she told an interviewer that she'd been engaged six times. Her friends remembered at least eleven engagements. A real firebrand, she confessed to being a spoiled bitch from an early age. Her rebelliousness had gotten her kicked out of a string of posh schools. In December 1961 Christina was featured seminude in an issue of Harper's Bazaar. The image, taken by celebrated fashion photographer Richard Avedon, proved disastrous for her modeling career.
